2012

2012 was a good art year.  I participated in 7 art shows, including my first solo show, got a job involving art, worked on a public mural, took my art education classes, learned ceramics (which I still need to post pictures of), picked up some digital art skills, made some nice connections, got a mention in the paper for an art piece, yada yada yada.

Pet Portraiture

Now if this isn't the most American thing you've ever seen...
Just makes me want to wave a flag and put Reagan's face on everything.

Are you a good witch or a bad witch?

My latest project, created for the Naughty or Nice art show at Middle Ground Cafe.  Two 12x12 inch paintings that are opposites of each other.

Work in progress

Work in progress, have an idea of what I want to do but still needs to be refined.

I've been quite busy.  I have some lesson plans to work on and some art shows coming up.  Which means there might be a slight lag in updates again :/ but I'll do my best.  Although when its all over I'll hopefully have some cool stuff to show off!

3-D Doodles

This is a 3 dimensional piece using foam board. I have soooo many ideas using this technique now.

Grim Grinning Ghost

I painted this by candle light when the power went out during Sandy.  However, it came back on after a few hours! It was a Halloween miracle!

Happy Halloween!!!

Fun for the Kiddos

These are some project ideas I came up with for work.  We are currently making the spiders for Halloween and the kids seem to be enjoying it.  I carry it by the string and show them how I take my spider for walks and they love it.

Pattern techniques

Did this in class, scrape chalk dust on a pan on water, swirl it around with a pencil or something and then lay a piece of paper across it. The paper picks up the chalk when you take it out of the water.  After it dries you get something that looks like this.  Pretty cool.

I named him Ogglebert

I took a piece of sculpey clay and just smooshed it in my fist then gave it eyes and made it into a face thus creating a little character.  I then illustrated it from multiple angles.  Reminds me of a goblin from Labyrinth (One of my all time favorite films!).  Idea for illustration project...

Garden of the Hesperides

Negligence

Oh poor neglected art blog! I have been starving you. Things have been rough but no more excuses.  Yes, I have taken on a heavy work load this semester but I'm am willing to try harder.  I have not been completely slack, however, work has been made and I vow to start uploading some of it.   I now have both a job and college classes where I create, I took a pottery class this summer, and I have participated in numerous art shows this year. Really the only reason I haven't been updating is I need to take more pictures and scan more things, which I find to be a pain...

It's the thought that counts, right?

It was my mother's birthday yesterday and the gift I bought her online as yet to arrive, so I put this in her birthday card.  Remind self to order these things earlier next time.

Squid Inks

You'll have to forgive the lack of updates, swamped with work.  Updating will commence when the semester is over!
