Chromatic Oscillations

Last night my studio mates at Studio 4 and I hosted a live painting event while some very talented DJ's accompanied us with music and a light show.  Needless to say, it was a pretty awesome night!  Here are some shots of me painting and the final piece.

 

Painting in changing colored light, proved to be quite the challenge.  Colors would appear and disappear before your eyes!

Spray painting the town

My town started a monthly art walk called Arts on Main about a year ago now.  Every second Friday of the month the local businesses host art shows and music events.  Over the summer my friend set this up in a vacant lot and three of us went to town spray painting it during one of the art walks.   It was the first time I used spray paint and also the first time I painted for a crowd.  I had such a great time!   I painted the octopus, in case you you wondering.

The Koi Pond

Ok, so I'm back tracking a bit here but I've got a lot of stuff to show off from the past few months.  Over the summer I participated in the Art Picnic at the Springfield Museums in Massachusetts.  12 artists were chosen to design and paint 12 picnic tables that are now on display on the museums grounds.  I designed this pieces originally to go on a door in the Art Discovery Center but ended up on the table instead.  Here is my original sketch, color sketch, a progress shot and the final product.  The final piece is done in acrylic paint.   I also has some help painting it from my student helper Juliana.  I had a blast doing this!

Printed Collages

The metallic paper didn't scan well but I used silver on the first one and silver and gold on the second.  The second one didn't print so well either but I like my collage.  Really fun project.
